GETTING REAL:
CONSCIOUS COMMUNICATION AS AN AWARENESS PRACTICE
"Presence is what makes you radiantly alive, trustworthy, and confident. The key to presence is honesty."
“You can only be as honest as you are self-aware.”
In this lively, practical workshop we will learn tools and practices for becoming more conscious of our unconscious thought patterns and communication habits. We will learn how to notice and free ourselves of the ways we “go on automatic” when we are threatened or uncomfortable—so we can communicate with power, presence, and compassion. Using techniques drawn from: Psychodrama, Psychosynthesis, Gestalt, Sensory Awareness, and Getting Real , we will learn and practice:
-how to bring your conversations into the present moment so you can be fully available to the maximum potential of each moment (vs thinking you know what another's actions "mean," etc)
-how to identify the forces in your personality that take you out of the present (your buttons, your control patterns, your automatic thoughts)
-how to heal your buttons (your unconscious fears) and discover you do not need your control patterns
-how to communicate about differences in wants and perspectives in a way that respects differences and expands your ability to perceive more of reality
-how to hold a bigger "charge" in your body, so you can experience maximum pleasure, depth, and complexity
-how to make up after a fight
-how to express your wants openly and vulnerably, without attachment and without being controlling
-how to skillfully say no and mark your boundaries
-how to get back into present time when you're being triggered
-how to deal with anger (yours and others') and other difficult emotions
-how to give and receive honest feedback
-how to clear the past so you can be more present
-how to express yourself in ways that promote trust, intimacy, and mutual healing
You will get tools for bringing these learnings into you daily life.
After this workshop, I found myself much more confident and less reactive — both in my work with clients and jurors (as a trial attorney) and in my personal life.
